Melbourne University Press commences book publishing system rollout
Respected book publisher commences deployment of book publishing and production management system.
Melbourne University Press (MUP) is one of Australia's most distinguished book publishers. It commissions and produces some of the most influential and important academic titles in the country, and is famed for a catalogue that includes works such as Manning Clark's History of Australia.
MUP has commenced deployment of a new book publishing and management solution, built on itechne's edDesk and bookDesk engines.
The solution provides a "cradle to grave" system for managing the planning, commissioning, editorial, production and workflow for its book titles. As well as bringing together all of the materials and collateral used in the book production process, the system automatically generates print, web and ONIX/XML versions of MUP's titles catalogue and marketing materials, automates the typesetting process, and generates electronic versions of book content.
The solution also provides a new intranet/extranet for all of the group's marketing and communications.
